Chat with other women going through early
menopause. This is a place for us all to share experiences and advice, ask
questions, talk about what we're going through and, most of all, to offer each other
support!
Chat Schedule:
Whenever there's a chat, there is an announcement posted
on the message
board.
There are regularly scheduled chats many Monday
nights at 8:00 PMET and every
Thursday afternoon at 4 PM ET (9:00 PM London time).
These chats are informal -- there's no set topic, just
general conversation, and they go on as long as everyone wants, as there's no cut-off
time. The conversation ranges from hormonal issues to anything else people want to
talk about, so they're usually are a combination of information and socializing. If
you want to ask a question or if you just want to chat with others in the same boat, they
are a great choice!!
And....since there are so many newcomers to the site and
so many people with serious questions about early menopause, POF, etc. we have a special
Newcomers chat every other Wednesday night at
8 PM ET. (Again, check themessage boardfor chat announcements.)
If you're new to the site, new to chatting, were just
diagnosed or just went through (or are going to be going through) surgery, you might want
to drop in! This chat is especially designed to focus on early menopause and POF --
so its focus is informational rather than social. It's the perfect time and place to
ask questions and get answers. And, since the chat runs more slowly than the usual
chats so it's a great way to get to know some of the people on Early Menopause.com, get
answers to your questions, AND get used to chatting!
In addition, there often are unofficial
"drop-in" chats EVERY DAY. These are times when
there's no "official" chat, but when people are invited to drop into the chat
room and chat with whomever else stops in. If you do stop by and there's no one
there, check back in ten minutes or so....since often people drop in and, if the room is
empty, come back a little later to see if someone's around for a chat...or post on the message boardto
see if someone can join you!
Remember -- the chat rooms are always open! So
you're welcome to stop in for a chat whenever you want. Feel free to post on the
message boards or send private mail to arrange chats with others whenever you want!
A few technical notes:
There are three chat rooms -- our main chat room (run by
Parachat); our primary back-up room (run by Chat-Forum) and yet another back-up room (run
by Bravenet). Chats are generally held in the main room. If there's a change
in plans, check the message board to see where the chat is being held.
To get into the main chat room, scroll down the page until
you see the space where it asks you to type in your name. Just type in your name,
hit enter-- and you're in the room!
To adjust the size and color of the type or the background
color of the chat room, click on the buttons on the bottom, beneath the chat window.
You can access the control panel by clicking on the button that has the computer
screen and gear on it (well, that's what it's supposed to look like, I think!) This
enables you to change font, size, sounds, and so forth. You can also make the room
"float" by clicking on the button that has all the arrows on it.
You might get pop-up ads while in chat (unfortunately...
one of the side effects of using a freeware chat room!). You can either
"x" out the ads (using the "x" in the upper right hand corner of the
ad window -- NOT the chat window!) or minimize them. For the best results, you might
want to download a pop-up ad zapper program, such as the following freeware programs: "Pop-Down"
OR "Popup Stopper"
If you're having problems with getting the room to load
(you're getting the dreaded "gray box," for example), check out the Parachat FAQs page, as
it may offer you the help you need
If for some reason the above chat room is
not working, here's our back-up chat room! Just fill your name in the space,
hit enter....and you're there!! Do NOT use this chat room unless the other one isn't
working! (Otherwise, you might wind up not being in the usual chat!!!)
One thing: Since these chat rooms are
part of a network, there's a chance your name will already be in use (even if it's not
being used in this room.) If this is the case, you'll have to type in a new name to
be allowed entrance.
ERROR - Chat Room Requires JAVASCRIPT!
Back Up Chat Room #2 (powered by
Bravenet):
Just click on the button on the left -- and it will take you
to the chat page.
You might get a pop-up ad that covers all or part of the
chat room page window. Minimize it or close it -- and you'll see the chat page.
Type your name in the blank, hit enter -- and that's it!!
